about

a bit of insight into the remix, I began by speeding everything up by 6 times the original speed, resulting in the guitar sounding like free jazz sax blasts ... i took these sounds and layered them over the drum samples which were drop tuned several octaves and haphazardly applied a la a free jazz drummer spazzing out. albeit a digitally enhanced free jazz drummer. with several extra arms. so yeah, jazz. truth be told, the bit with the acoustic guitar hammering wasn't initially meant for this edit, I recorded that outside the juggling gypsy sunday night while screening the directors cut of caligula, dialog of which faintly appears in a few cracks of silence during the second half of "hurricane cane (metallica jizz edit)".

and that was pretty much it. the initial little tweaks and attempts at reworking the tune had a distinctive animal collective vibe, rhythmically, which sounded like dance music to a really hip house party. that might've been hot, but I like the sound soup presented here.
